Knowledge gained through research is likely to have minimal impact on health care if it cannot be integrated into routine training and clinical practice. In turn, systematically derived practice-based evidence can inform the knowledge base and enhance ecological validity.
In pursuit of science-practice integration, Practice-Oriented Research Lab (PORLab) focuses on three overlapping areas: (a) patient-focused research; (b) practice-based evidence; and (c) measurement-based care
Studies focus on identifying participant, technical, and relational processes that influence the process and outcome of behavioral health treatments, as well as the development, testing, and implementation of effective intervention strategies. In addition, the lab utilizes a variety of research methods - quantitative and qualitative - to address complex questions regarding behavior change across individual and system levels.
We are located in the Department of Psychology at the University at Albany, State University of New York. If you are interested in joining the lab, please visit our Join page for more details.
